400A - Universal Fill Valve

The 400A will work in older toilets dating as far back as the 1950’s. The 400A is one of the fastest filling valves in the market and will replace most antiquated technologies like Korky, Burlington Ballcocks, Delta Pro, Danco, and many others. Top toilet brands including: American Standard, Kohler, Gerber, Briggs, Mansfield, Vortens, Eljer, Western Pottery, Jacuzzi, and many more make 2 piece toilets (and some one piece toilets) that will fit the 400A.

Once the fill valve is installed you can adjust the water level by twisting the “Tank water level adjustment screw”. Turn Clockwise for more or a higher water level and Counterclockwise for less or a lower water level.

The fill valve is working properly and is not failing this action or sound is called the “Water Waste Signal”, you may know this more commonly as “Ghost Flushing”. This is the fill valves alert system and it is alerting you that the water inside the tank is leaking out on its own. Yes there is, we have two repair or replacement parts available for the 400A and they are:

Replacement Top Cap Assembly (model 385)

Replacement Seal (model 242)

The 400A works independently from the flapper and will work with flapper valves.

To ensure your toilet will work with the 400A simply measure the flush valve (overflow) pipe in the center of the tank. Measuring from the bottom of the tank to the top of the pipe. If the measurement is 6 inches or taller the 400A will fit the tank.

Yes you can but Fluidmaster recommends against it. The 400A will let debris such as solder, rust, dirt and other minerals pass right through the valve. In situations where debris gets trapped inside the valve the top cap can be removed to purge or flush the contaminants out of the valve.
